The Blind Spots have some big news: Hair-whipping, disco-ball-toting O.G. and B’Spots bassist, Khris Oursler and his partner Samantha are having TWINS!!
With the twins’ arrival will come some big changes for Khris and for the band. One baby is a big, beautiful miracle, and two is not only a doubly beautiful miracle but is also a lot to handle, even for two such capable, amazing folks as Khris and Sam. It is with heavy hearts and all the sweetness and support that we announce this show as Khris’s last one with The Blind Spots.
We are asking for your help in setting Khris and Sam up for the arrival of these two princes. They’ll be going through a LOT of diapers, so please some bring some to the party ! Or please bring them a gift from their registry: Khris + Sam Registryhttps://www.dspshows.com/event/1828872/
The Blind Spots have shared festival bills with Lake Street Dive, Amy Helm, Rubblebucket, Donna the Buffalo, Sharon Jones, John Brown's Body, The Punch Brothers, Brett Dennen, Jim Lauderdale, Steve Earle, Anders Osborne, etc. and have shared city event bills with Blues Traveller at Blue Cross Arena, Rochester; Eddie Money in Albany, NY; and Rusted Root both at Tussey Mountain, PA and in Friendsville, PA. The band has played the Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance the past six years; Virginia Key Grassroots Festival in Miami, FL; Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival in Pittsboro, NC; Corning Glass Museum; Rochester Lilac Festival (119 years running) alongside Dr. Dog, the Psychedelic Furs, and Ana Popovich among others.; several colleges including the University of Vermont, Cornell University, SUNY Brockport, and Elmira College; the State Theatre of Ithaca; The Basement in Nashville, TN; Johnny D's in Somerville, MA; both The Bowery Electric and Rockwood Music Hall in New York City; the Florida Music Festival and Conference in Orlando, FL; Dewey Beach Music Conference in Dewey Beach, DE, etc.
The band shows no signs of slowing as it continues to expand its touring radius, gaining new fans and momentum with each electrifying live performance.
In addition to performing in New Orleans for Jazz Fest house parties, Telluride, Colorado, New York City and all over New York State, DJ Gourd has set the vibe in many environments including DJing Dap Kings after-parties and opening for many local and national acts such as Break Science, Tony Touch, Rich Medina, Mad Professor, Tony Allen, Turquaz, Big Sam, Big Mean Sound Machine, Jimkata and many others over the past 17 years. To keep the dance floor moving, DJ Gourd pulls from his diverse record collection of Funk, Soul, Afro-beat, Rock, Country and Old School Rap comprised of over 4,000 7” and 3,000 12” records. Not being one to only be stuck in the DJ booth, as a guitarist DJ Gourd started the 10 piece funk/soul band Mutron Warriors in 2006 as a way to recreate some of the rare records in his collection and has now continued that tradition with a new band called the Comb Down, based around the sounds of the Hammond B3 organ and soul jazz music of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s.
